Welcome to Twin Butte Simmentals
Thank you for taking the time to visit our site.

We are situated in south west corner of Alberta approximately 15 minutes away from one of the worlds best kept secrets, Waterton Lakes Nation Park.  We are very proud of our ranching heritage, and consider ourselves very lucky to be living in one of the most scenic places in the world.

We started raising papered Simmental cattle in 1988, and since that time have been part of the evolution process taking us to where the Simmental breed is today.  We calve out around 110 head each year, and usually have about 20 replacement heifers and 20 sale bulls on hand.  Our herd consists mainly of red and black Simmental, although we do still run a small number of fullblood cows along with around 40 commercial cows.

We have sold in many sales in the past such as Checkers, Transcon’s Red & Black, Farmfair International, Canadian Western Agribition, Calgary Bull Sale, Camrose Bull Sale, Bar 15 Simmentals Bull Sale, and are now happy to be partners in the PowerPak Bull Sale held annually on Family Day at the Fort Macleod Auction. We sell 99% of our bulls to commercial cattlemen, with a large amount being repeat buyers.

Here at Twin Butte Simmentals we are very stringent with our culling process.  The only way we trim feet is to ship the cow, in our country if they can’t walk they don’t work.  We only help a calf nurse a cow one season, after she weans the calf she goes to town.  We do not grease bags.  There is no toleration for bad tempered cows, if they chase us, they get to chase us onto the truck and go to town.  If the cow is doing a good job, she gets to stay as long as she keeps working.  And we are proud to say that we have some 14 year old cows.  Our cows are run as in a commercial operation; the only cattle on our place that see grain are the bulls, replacement heifers and first calf heifers.

We are very proud of our operation.  If you are ever in the area, we would be pleased to show you around the place, as well as tour you around the very scenic landscape we are blessed to live in.

Sincerely,
Tony, Lorraine, Nathan, & Tannis Bruder
